چکیده

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of heavy metals, at environmentally relevant concentrations, on the immune response of rainbow trout. Trout were exposed for 30 d to cadmium chloride (CdCl2), mercuric chloride (HgCl2), or zinc chloride (ZnCl2) either individually or in combinations: CdCl2/HgCl2, CdCl2/ZnCl2, HgCl2/ZnCl2, or CdCl2/HgCl2/ZnCl2. Following the 30-d exposure, parameters of the nonspecific cellular immune response (phagocytosis, respiratory burst, and lymphoblastic proliferation) and of the nonspecific humoral immune response (lysozyme activity and the level of immunoglobulin) were measured. The results obtained indicate that individually, all three metals tested induce significant immunomodulations. However, the toxicity of mercury or cadmium is significantly reduced in fish simultaneously exposed to zinc, indicating that a protection is afforded by zinc against cadmiumand mercury-induced immunotoxicity. Cholinergic and behavioral neurotoxicity of carbaryl and cadmium to larval rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).

Pesticides and heavy metals are common environmental contaminants that can cause neurotoxicity to aquatic organisms, impairing reproduction and survival. Neurotoxic effects of cadmium and carbaryl exposures were estimated in larval rainbow trout (RBT; Oncorhynchus mykiss) using changes in physiological endpoints and correlations with behavioral responses. Following exposures, RBT were videotape...

Study of the heavy metals (Cd and Pb) content in the tissues of rainbow trouts from Hamedan coldwater fish farms

The aim of this research was to determine the concentration of cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) in the muscle and liver tissues of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in Hamedan Province (west of Iran) cold water fish farms, and compare the results with the FAO/WHO guidelines. Heavy metal concentrations were determined from the three randomly selected fish farms by Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical ...

Effects of cadmium at sub-lethal concentration on growth and biochemical parameters in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

Cadmium (Cd), as one of heavy metals and an environmental stressor, may alter many physiological processes like growth and serum parameters in fish. The main objective of this study was to determine the effects of cadmium at sub-lethal concentrations (1 and 3 μg/l) on growth and serum biochemical parameters including enzymes, i.e. alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and...

Evaluation of Heavy Metals Concentration and Its Consumption Risk in Trout Fish (Oncorhynchus Mykiss)

Background: Nowadays, the pollution of aquatic ecosystems caused by entry of heavy metals is an issue that makes it essential to check the wholesome of the aquatic animals that are consumed by human. When these metals enter the canvas of aquatic organisms, cause tension due to bioavailability, and their toxicity leads to teratogenic, mutagenic and carcinogenic effects in living organisms Me...

Toxicity comparison of colloidal silver nanoparticles in various life stages of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

Recognizing the significance of the life stage of fish for nano-eco-toxicological studies, the acute toxicity of colloidal silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was tested in three different life stages of rainbow trout. Fishes were exposed to colloidal AgNPs at nominal concentrations of 100, 32, 10, 3.2, 1, 0.32, 0.1, and 0.032 mg/L. The estimated 96 hr LC50 values were 0.25, 0.71, and 2.16 mg/L for th...
